Christmas Tree O Christmas Tree

Dallas decided that we were going to venture out and cut down our own Christmas tree this year. He had his hand saw ready and we headed to a local Christmas tree farm.

And when we arrived this is what we saw....

Ummm, where are the trees that we are supposed to cut down?!

We finally found some trees that could be cut but they were not much taller than Lin-Ley. She was determined to find just the right tree so that she could help cut it down.

Actually Lin-Ley was in a rush to find any tree as quickly as possible because she had heard that there was free hot chocolate and candy canes waiting at the other end.

Dallas did his best to convince Lin-Ley that this was the perfect tree for us. She was not having any part of it.

Tru was just wondering if any of us realized just how cold it was!!

On the plus side, the scenery and surroundings were beautiful.
We eventually found out that the owners of the farm had freshly cut trees shipped in for our purchase - starting at around $60 each. Ok then - moving on!! So much for the tree cutting experience.

Next stop, a local landscaping company with a small selection of trees. Lin-Ley was content to sit in the van and watch a movie with Tru while Dallas selected our tree. It was freezing outside!
We made it home in time to have lunch before we received our first snowfall of the year.
We are still working on all of the decorations but we have one of our favorites on the tree already. Hee-Hee!
Here it is. A homemade ornament made by Auntie Gabby (Jody's sister) circa 1994 featuring... Auntie Gabby herself.
We remembering receiving this ornament soon after we were married. Thanks Gabby!

By the way, we just celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. Lin-Ley was particularly interested in this occasion. She read the cards Dallas and I had given to one another. She said she wanted to read them aloud to us to show us how much we cared about each other.

I can smell the fresh scent from here! Ahhhh..... :-)

Another set of three little words that I find SO romantic too is "I'll clean up!" (Makes my heart go pitter-patter!).
